Driver Certificate of Professional CompetenceIf you are a bus or coach driver and held your vocational licence (D*, D1*,DE*, D1E*) prior to 10 September 2008, you have acquired rights until 9 September 2013. If you are a lorry driver and held your vocational licence (C, C1, CE, C1E) prior to 10 September 2009, you have acquired rights until 9 September 2014. To continue driving professionally beyond this date, you will need to complete 35 hours of periodic training before the dates shown above, and then accumulate 35 hours of training, every 5 years thereafter. ACT provides a range of courses both class and vehicle based that help the driver to attain their professional Driver CPC qualification. Operator Certificate of Professional Competence in Road HaulageThis course is for anyone wishing to enter the profession of Transport Manager or demonstrate their professional competence to meet Operator Licensing requirements. This qualification changed in December 2011, and now combines National & International elements. The course covers all the information required to be able to pass the OCR Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage, as laid down in the current EU directive. This course is taken as a two week intensive classroom based course. The Examination consists of a 2 hour Multiple Choice question paper and an open book, 2 hour Case Study paper. Examinations are held four times per year, March, June, September and December at our OCR accredited Centre.
IOSH Managing Safely CourseAll candidates who successfully pass the IOSH Managing Safely course will be awarded with a certificate issued by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. This certificate will prove that the manager is able to:
- Recognise hazards found in the workplace
- Produce and record basic risk assessments
- Recommend control measures as a result of the basic risk assessments
- Provide management practices and principles as part of a complete management strategy
- Plan, create and implement actions to meet health and safety objectives
- Recognising and accounting for the risks from ergonomic factors
- Investigation of accidents and incidents which resulted in damage or injuries to discover the causes and to ensure the appropriate steps is taken.
First Aid at WorkWe offer HSE approved 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work courses , which can also be counted as 7 hours training towards the Driver CPC qualification, and 3 day First Aid at Work courses. Driver Assessments - Each assessment typically lasts 1 hour. The assessment is designed to aid your driver recruitment and selection process and provides a report as to the competence of your prospective driver. A modified version of this scheme can be used to assess drivers at regular intervals or perhaps following involvement in an accident or where there is a suspicion of poor driving.
CCNSG TrainingOur Passport to Safety (CCSNG) courses are run on a regular basis in conjunction with Providence Training.
